Wandsworth Friends of the Earth joined in the Putney clean air fair, arranged by Fleur Anderson on Saturday, September 18. It was a good day and the weather treated us kindly. We set up a table amongst others and focused on Clean Air and the Climate and Nature Crisis. We asked the public to complete Post-it notes about these subjects and in answer to the questions we raised. We also had our leaflets to distribute.
The footfall was not overwhelming, though we did see quite a few people. The area for the fair was a bit tucked away from the High Street and the main people passing through were either running or on bicycles headed towards the Thames Path and rather focussed on their exercise.
It was however good to be out again with WFOE and it was great that William, Melanie and Lynne helped with the stall. The idea is that the Clean Air Fair becomes an annual event and hopefully influences the powers-that-be in creating cleaner air in Wandsworth and in particular in Putney High Street.
