  • The Climate Emergency is very much in the public’s mind. Over 10,000 local people in our Borough signed a Petition in the summer calling on Wandsworth Council to declare a Climate Emergency.
  • Wandsworth Council responded positively – Councillors agreeing unanimously to do this in July.  The Council drew up a Wandsworth Environment and Sustainability Strategy, 2019-41. And right now, the first annual Action Plan to give effect to it is being drafted. Wandsworth Living Streets submitted two documents for consideration in the Action Plan Improving Air Quality in Wandsworth More Effectively and Faster and Council Policies to Decarbonise Road Transport.
  • Having a Member of Parliament in Battersea who really ‘gets’ the urgency and importance of effective action to address Climate Change, Biodiversity loss, and Clean Air in London is so important.

Various local organizations – including the 10,000, Extinction Rebellion, Wandsworth Living Streets, Wandsworth Cycling Campaign and Wandsworth Friends of the Earth – are organising this special Environmental Election Hustings for Battersea.

Do make a point of coming.

Persuade your friends and neighbours to attend too.

Bring your questions and what environmental policies you want to see your Battersea MP supporting.

The candidates –  Kim Caddy (Conservative), Lois Davis (Green), Marsha de Cordova (Labour) and Mark Gitsham (Liberal Democrat) – have all been invited; three have already confirmed their attendance.
